知識基盤社会における小学校から高等学校における理科の役割は,観察実験等によって得られた情報を活用し,科学的に思考し判断,表現する能力を高めることである。本研究では,小学校,中学校,高等学校の理科において,探究活動における児童・生徒の情報活用をより積極的に促すために言語活動をどのように取り入れればよいか,各校種において授業を計画・実施・評価し,それらを比べて検討した。その結果,教師は観察実験等で得られた事実(情報)を他の何かと関連付けて言語化・数値化・図示させることで情報に意味付けを行わせ,問題解決や課題解決にっなげさせる指導を意図的に行っていた。また,その際,指導上の工夫として,事実(情報)を確実に認識させること,関連付ける事項を明確にすること,それらを相互に関連付ける視点を明確にすることの3点を児童・生徒に意識させる手立てを講じていた。このようにして,児童・生徒に「何」と「何」を「どのように」関連付けるのかを明確にする指導が,探究活動における児童・生徒の情報活用をより積極的に促すものと考えられる。

This study examines methods of conducting language activities to promote information utilization by children and students in science research activities in elementary, junior high, and high school. The research primarily performs observation of classes at each school level. Those classes are planned, conducted, evaluated, and are finally compared. The results indicated that teachers intentionally gave instructions that stimulated problem solving or task solving by making information meaningful, and they encourage their students to relate the experimental results observed to other information, and finally the teachers help students verbalize, quantify, and illustrate those results. In addition, the study revealed three points constituting ingenuity in classroom instruction:
1. letting children and students recognize facts through observation experiments
2. helping them clarify other information relating to the results
3. giving them viewpoints for relating the results to other information
