抄録
The purpose of this paper is to report the inspection of schools inspections that focused on character education on the east coast of the USA, where make advanced efforts to promote character education. This time, we visited schools to learn more details about character education. We interviewed schools from five perspectives; 1) connection among elementary school, middle school, and high school, 2) the relationship between special education and character education, 3) the evaluations to develop the ability and the curriculums, 4) the visual devices to spread it to school and parents, and 5) the essentials of it. We visited five schools; one was a charter school, the other two were religious ones and other two schools were private schools without any religious affiliation. We found that there were various kinds of character education even on the east coast of the USA. We also found that every teachers and staffs devoted his/her efforts and every devices to spread character education. Additionally, we also found that the common similar ideas of teachers and staff members at the school we visited, that is, they strongly expect to let their students to be up stander to make better communities in the future. We discussed not only the essentials of character education but also the differences to adopt character education in to Japan's education system.
