The outstanding geotechnical projects in Chugoku area are introduced as a touristic guide. They are an artificial ground in Hiroshima Airport, a conservation recovery from debris flow in Miyajima Island, the first undersea railway tunnel in Kanmon Channel, the Toyoura standard sand, the Iwami silver mines, the foundation of ancient huge Izumo shrine, seismic motions and microtremors around Sakai Minato city, the geo-park project in Sanin seaside area, ruins of embankment in the age of provincial war (Sengoku Jidai), and Seto Ohashi Bridge. These are the challenges in geotechnical field and good places to visit for geotechnical engineers.
