Today, art educatoin in elementary school is generally faced with considerable difficulties. The newly revised course of study has rather clearly stipulated the necessity of transforming itself from its traditional paradigm to a new one; and this has caused serious problems in the actual situation of elementary school education, which can almost be described as confusion. The confusion is varied in content and extensive in scope, involving problems such as misunderstanding in the purpose of art education, fallacies in teaching contents, teaching methods and evaluation, etc. With this basic understanding, the present paper is aimed at clarifying in as concreat terms as possible, various questions and problems related to the elementary school teacher, to analyze them, and to conceptualize them in terms of tasks so that they can be dealt with and solved from the realistic point of view.
