Abstract |
Woven fabrics that are made of fibers having different cross sections, circle, triangle, star and hollow, were prepared. Compressional and bend properties of the fabrics were measured. Relationship between these mechanical properties and cross sectional shape of fibers were discussed. It was suggested that airspace in a yarn and friction between fibers are sensitive to the cross sectional shape, and the air space and the friction affect the mechanical properties of fabrics.
