Abstract |
The relationship subjects' sympathy for the speakers and the behaviors based on critical thinking processes in the daily conversational utterances was investigated in this study. This study is consisted of two experiments, and inspected the hypothesis that explains the occurrence process of the statements as critique in the daily conversations. The process is consisted the cognitive events that are critical thinking attitudes, monitoring, avoidance from risk, and fluctuation of risk. The first experiment was aimed to make the material text for second experiment. The material used in this study is the text of conversation that simulated the daily conversations. The topic was selected from five to two in the first experiment. The topics were differentiated in terms of the interpersonal communication and the socioeconomics. The second experiment was aimed to investigate the relationship between the sympathy for speaker and the behavior as the results that subjects have read the text. Three versions of texts were made for second experiment: sympatric story, rational story, assertive story. As the result of the second experiment, those instances became clear. In the condition of sympatric text, most participants selected not critical statements. In rational text, most participants also selected not critical statements. In assertive text, the percentage of participants who selected critical statements and not critical statements was almost the same.
