Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the organization and the activities of Cultural Maneuver Committee,and to extract the Chinese culture's feature in Chongqin during the Sino-Japanese war (1937-1945). Cultural Maneuver Committee was a government agency, organized on the political balance between the Guomintang and the Chinese Communist Party in Chongqing on October 1,1940. The leading figure was Guo Moruo, and the best-known novelists, poets, playwrights, historians, economists, educators, scientists participated in it. Especially, it is worthy of notice that Teru Hasegawa, Japanese Esperantist, was admitted to become a member. Cultural Maneuver Committee had come into various action till it was dissolved by the Guomintang on April, 1945. In brief,the cultural and historical heritage that Cultural Maneuver Committee left in the short period were as follows. (1) It enlightened a Chinese citizen suffering from the war damage, enhanced their patriotic spirit and anti-war mood. (2) It unified and encouraged members, helped them to create a lot of masterpieces going down in history. (3) It cooperated with the Chinese Communist Party in propelling the democratic movement on the last stage of the Anti-Japanese War.
