Abstract
This study aims to clarify the role which the development of the Teaching Games For Understanding(TGFU) Approach of England and Wales in the 1980s took for teachers' development. The results are summarised as follows: (1)The development of the TGFU was organised with the induction course for the improvement of teachers' games teaching. There were some principles of collaborative work among lecturers, PE advisers, and school teachers during the development. (2)Some teachers could understand the games itself deeper and be aware of the significance of the cooperative learning for puplis as they had dialogue with their colleagues about their teaching and reflected on it in the continuous induction course. (3)In order to improve the games teaching, it seems that the task of the rearrangement of the communication between teachers and pupils as well as among pupils should be remained.
