Abstract
Regarding literary education in secondary schools, teachers tend to feel difficulties and to be reluctant to accept novels as literary texts. This paper explores the effect of using Ichikawa’s fi lm as a comparative reading material on teaching close reading of Soseki’s novel “Kokoro” based on a study of the teaching plan concept and classroom practice.
