Abstract
Kenji Miyazawa's work “Otzbel and White Elephant" has never been examined about illustrations on picture books. Illustrations on “Otzbel and White Elephant" represent artists to various constructions. Therefore it takes in teaching.

The aim of this paper is to useful Illustrations on “Otzbel and White Elephant"

Added to this, Kenji Miyazawa's works represent execution as binary phases. These, for example, Otzbel's sense of value, lonesome smile on White Elephant countenance, narrator by a cattleman and a last line in this work are making various constructions. These things make possibility clear that various constructions give not only binary readings but also various readings. Various readings grow learner' critical ability. Judging from the above, there is no doubt about good worth in “Otzbel and White Elephant".
