Abstract
It is the aim of this paper to consider how traditional religions are related to the modern environmental crisis. Here I investigated following topics critically. 1. Blame for the Judeo-Christian attitude toward nature. 2. Blame for modern western view of nature (the mechanistic view of nature and the thought of domination of nature). 3. Eastern view of nature and Japanese Eco-nationalism. 4. Contribution of traditional religions to the solution of environmental problems. By this investigation I suggested that in thinking the environmental problems we should not praise the religions of our own culture and should not blame the religions of other cultures.
