This thesis is the historical study of “Tokyo Golf Club" as the first Japanese golf club established by Japa-nese in 1913, regarding the processes of its foundation, organization, and activi-ties. This thesis consists of six chapters and several data. The introductory presents the purpose and significance of this study, the investigation of the preparatory study and the theme of this study, and historical materials.
The first chapter surveys the introduc- tion of golf into Japan at the beginning, then the foundation of Kobe Golf Club, and the procedures of holding golf tourna- ments. The second chapter details the management organizations, the process of establishment of “Tokyo Golf Associa- tion" and “Tokyo Golf Company", with the organization and management of Tokyo Golf Club, and the admission into the club and the social status of the members considered. The third chapter states the construction and facilities of Komazawa Course, the processes of moving the course to Asaka, with its construction. The fourth chapter shows the golf tourna- ments and social events given by Tokyo Golf Club.
The last chapter relates the conclusion of this study, and the historical gnificance of Tokyo Golf Club. The materials com- piled at the end of this thesis are impor- tant documents for this study.
