Abstract
There are so many words related to “bad woman,” such as a witch, a little devil, a femme fatale, a poisonous woman, a playgirl, and a lewd woman. Indeed, the “villain” is a subject of criticism, but it is not the only one. Rather, “bad woman” is a representation that has fascinated both men and women (Chinami Kasama, 2012. “Body representation of ‘bad woman’ and ‘good woman’”). For this reason, episodes related to “bad woman” are always in abundance and have been repeatedly adopted as the subject of TV dramas, movies, visual arts, and novels.
What, is a “bad woman” or the condition called “bad woman?” With these questions as a starting point, this essay will transition the word “ bad woman” and discuss the expression of “bad woman” in contemporary Japanese literature.
