The crystalline schists of this area belong to the Sangun metamorphic groups, which are the metamorphic equivalent of the Chichibu palaeozoic groups.
They consist of black-schists, sandy schists, quartz-schists and green-schists.

The crystalline schists of this area belong mostly to the chlorite zone, and locally to the biotite zone characterizing the more advanced stage of metamorphism.
