The purpose of this study was to observe the long-term effects of physical training upon physical fitness of middle-aged and older men in promotional class of health.
Fourteen middle-aged and older men ( aged from 42 to 54yrs ) participated in promotional class of health, which held once per week for the duration of four years.
The results summarized were as follows:
1) No significant decrease was found in height, body weight, chest girth. But, thickness of skinfolds and body fat ( % fat) decreased significantly.
2) Resting heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased a little, respectively, through the four-years training.
3) No remarkable decrease was found in vital capacity and grip strength.
4) Sit-ups, standing trunk flexion and side step increased respectively in the course of four years.
