Abstract
In China, "quyi" refers to an oral art form performed using language from a third-person viewpoint. However, in Japan, quyi refers to an art form that shows strength and skills, similar to acrobatics in China. The differences in criteria create a divergence of categories between Chinese quyi and Japanese popular entertainment; however, it could not conceal the their commonalities of similar folk forms. Comparative studies to confirm their commonalities may further China and Japan reaching a common academic cognition within this field.
