Abstract |
In rural parts of Hiroshima Prefecture, the agricultural community has, for many years, undergone continual population decline and aging. Recently, community farming corporations have attracted increasing attention as a possible measure to counteract these circumstances. However, once a community farming corporation has been in existence for a number of years, it becomes necessary to consider the corporation’s reorganization. In this paper, we examine in detail, three types of cooperation and reorganization of community farming corporations. The first is Oasa Corporation, in which agricultural production is achieved by community farming and large-scale farmhouse production. The second is Farm Support Higashi-Hiroshima, in which community farming corporations cooperate in the joint use of agricultural machinery. The third is JA Support, in which JA Miyoshi supports the collaboration of community farming corporations. What these three cases have in common is that the community farming corporation operates within the overall structure of the regional agriculture.
