Abstract
Various studies on Exchange Activities have been conducted and revealed many instruction methods to promote exchanging between students with disabilities and those without disabilities. However, for Collaborative Learning that takes place in children between those students, the number of research studies are limited despite the fact that the importance of research on Collaborative Learning has been pointed out by many researchers and teachers. In this study, the nature of Exchange Activities and Collaborative Learning is described at first, and then effective methods of collaborative learning are explored from various case studies in order to reveal the contemporary challenges of Exchange Activities and Collaborative Learning. In addition, to examine more effective methods of Collaborative Learning by mutual learning and peer tutoring by students, to consider the way of the applying peer tutoring in Collaborative Learning, and to develop more effective Exchange Activities and Collaborative Learning for the future, the training methods for teachers and students to become more effective tutors in Collaborative Learning are described. Finally, the outlooks for the future studies on the nature of desirable Collaborative Learning are described.
