Abstract |
In the late 1950s, the art movement, Informel, gained momentum in Japan. The art critic Michel Tapie, a leader of the Informel movement, has offered his own explanation, drawing on F. Nietzsche's theories, which were actually aimed at art and children's play. It is through Nietzsche that the connection between Informel art and children's play is born. Moreover, this is the contact point between Informel art and children's play. The purpose of this study is to examine the theory of Nietzsche's play that Tapie seeks—it has not been sufficiently investigated by informel studies—and draw a connection between the Gutai Art Association: a post-War Japanese avant-garde art organization, and children's art.
