Abstract
The heavy rainfall in West Japan, which occurred in July 2018, caused massive and widespread damage to social infrastructures and lifelines. The torrential rain damaged many roads and railway bridges, and traffic and logistics were disconnected in many places. Regarding bridge damage, Bridge Disaster Investigation Group of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers(JSCE) is conducting a field survey of damaged bridges in the Misasa River. In general, cases that can specifically and quantitatively analyze the damage situation and cause of the damaged bridge groups are valuable for overcoming structural and complex engineering problems, and by making use of such cases, the cause of the failure and analysis progress, and it will lead to improving the design elements and construction method of the bridges in the future, and measures such as the runoff of the bridge at the time of flood. We hope that this survey report will be useful for future disaster prevention and mitigation measures technology for bridge infrastructure, and we keep a survey record as a repository of Hiroshima University.
