Abstract
Traditionally, in Japan, a collective society has been formed on the basis of social relations among relatives, communities, and companies, emphasizing connections among people. However, in recent years, events involving material and spiritual matters have changed the connections between people and society. It can be understood that, when compared to the past, modern society has a tendency to dilute human relationships and isolate individuals. Therefore, in this paper, I will take up the ethical thoughts of Tetsuro Watsuji, a leading ethicist in modern Japan, to seek a vision for overcoming these prominent social realities through Japanese ethics.
