This study clarified the spatial patterns of the COVID-19 infection in India up to August 1, 2020, through Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping. The research period was divided into four phases based on when the number of new infections reached 10,000, 50,000, and 100,000 per week, and analysis was conducted by state and district level based on this classification of phases. The trend of COVID-19 infection at the state level showed certain spatial patterns for each phase. The trend in the number of infections at the district level indicated that spatial patterns of infection spread had changed, even within the same district.
