Abstract |
The current study aims to do the following: arrange university career education according to an axis of policy process (implementation process) and a axis of research subject;, review the research done on career education; and present challenges related to career education. The axis of policy process (implementation process) refers to arranging the following forms of research related to career education as a time series: policy formation / introduction processes; the current situation regarding career education;, outcomes and evaluation of career education. The research focus axis refers to distinguishing between the following: micro research which focuses on various lessons;, mezzo research which extends across organizations; and macro research where career education is perceived as a system.
The main findings are as follows: 1). Studies have been done on career education policy formation in relation to ‘youth employment measures’ and network organization in the area of ‘policy formation/ introduction processes’. However, not many macro studies have been done in relation to universities. 2). In the‘ current situation’, while there are many detailed micro and mezzo studies, there is also much research that remains. 3). Although many micro studies have been conducted in relation to psychological changes before and after lessons in the area of‘ results/evaluation’, not many effective mezzo studies have been conducted. What follows are areas for future research. 1). As policy formation related to career education / the process of introducing career education to organizations will become the standard, more research needs to be done on the aforementioned areas after‘ the current situation’ is examined. 2). Effective research done from the perspective of ‘social/occupational independence’ is essential after the compulsory nature of career education is evaluated. Hopefully there will be further developments in micro and mezzo research. 3). When researching career education, it is necessary to analyze the three elements which come under the time axis by considering them as a whole. |
