Abstract
The objective areas of this study are small-scale producing areas of vegitables in Hiroshima pref., in contrast with large-scale producing areas, e. g. Nagano pref.

In Hiroshima pref., vegitable production had reduced with expansion of local cities in the 1960's, particularly at the areas nearby the city. But, in the 1970's, shipping quantity of vegitables had changed into increase because of planting vegitables to paddy fields under the Rice Production Adjustment Policy. New small-scale producing areas of vegitables have been formed in several rice producing areas.

At those areas, vegitable production has been promoted by agricultural cooperatives and municipalities. Vegitable producers have shipped through agricultural cooperative to central or local wholesale markets in Hiroshima pref.

But, shipping quantity has reduced again in the 1980's, because many of producers have attained old age. So, it is more necessary to get through collecting and shipping works with ease by joint shipping organization, i. e. agricultural cooperative marketing.

In recent years, the roles of agricultural cooperative are more important at small-scale producing areas, that are advisory service, joint shipping, cooperative marketing, and direct transaction with consumers' cooperative.
