Abstract
Since children's dietary habits are greatly influenced by their families, we cannot expect good results only from dietary education at school. We believe it indispensable for the school to closely coordinate with the families. This report considers the survey on the parents' thinking of the dietary education methods in view of coordination between the families and the school. The survey targeted the parents of children in the 5th grade. 1) Many of the parents attach special importance to "nutrition" in dietary education. 73.3% of them believe that their children should learn nutritional science both from school and their families. (2) When the parents are asked what they wish for the future nutritional education, what many of them answered includes the contents of home economics curriculum currently practiced at school. It is considered that the contents of home economics classes at school are accepted by the parents. And, therefore, it is necessary to take measures to make the contents of nutritional education at school practiced at home, too. (3) we need to establish the coordinating methods with which teachers, parents, and students can learn each other, instead of one-way supply of information from school to families.
