Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze what kind of war and peace consciousness students are forming in Israel, which is in a state of ethnic and religious tension. I conducted opinion surveys for junior high school students. The subjects of the survey are a private school conducted in 2018 and three state secular schools conducted in the second survey. The analysis will focus on the results of the state secular school in the second survey. More than 90% of students think that the world is not peaceful. The first reason is“ there is a continuous danger and threat of terrorism” and the second is “there are countries at war”. 73% of junior high school students support Just War theory, and 54% oppose the abandonment of her war. The percentage of agents who inherit about World War II is high. 80% of the students select“ teachers and educators” and about 70% select “fathers and mothers”. The fifth selection is “Holocaust survivors” with 56%. “Anti-Semitism and the Holocaust” is the most selected learning subject for forming a peaceful society. The next is “prevention of terrorism”. The third is “to live in harmony with Palestinian neighbors.” Dialogues, compromises, conflict resolutions, reconciliations, etc. are described as methods of peace formation. Among them is a positive approach to the Palestinian problem. On the contrary, there are some pessimistic opinions about peace formation. Some pessimistically view conflict and Palestinian problem resolution and describe hawkish methods. Some have an opinion that is oriented towards violent methods. There are opinions in support of the military deterrence theory.
