This research examined the third culture experience of international students and high school students in the international educational exchange and intercultural seminars. Creating intercultural interactions in new cultural paradigm is crucial for students to develop intercultural competence. Through these experiences students learn to examine their own cultural values and identity constructions. In the education for international understanding, it is critical for students to be exposed to the educational experience of paradigm shift in school culture. Authentic experiences of intercultural interactions can shatter students’ belief systems and identity constructions in the conventional Japanese cultural framework in schools.
