Chen Changzhi’s Shuowen Jiezi (陳昌治本説文解字) has been widely referred through the reprint by the Zhonghua Shuju (中華書局). It contains a correction list for its source material, the Pingjinguan version (平津館本), but recently, Hu Yongpeng (胡永鵬) found that the early print of Chen’s version did not include it. Also, the reprint by Zhonghua Shuju (1963 version) includes the correction list, but the main part is supposed to be taken from the early print without the correction list. In this report, the 3 original books that remained in Japan are investigated; the book remained in the Institute for Research in Humanity of the Kyoto University (京都大学人文科学研究所) is the early print, the book remained in the Waseda University (早稲田大学) is the late print, and the book remained in the Nagoya University (名古屋大学) is at an intermediate status between these two books.
