Abstract
In this paper the author interprets dialect distribution maps of the negative-connective phrase of Chubu District, Japan using the Descriptive Dialect-Geographical method developed by the author. He proposes Descriptive Dialect-Geography has a combination of social linguistic study and a dialect geographical study. The following results were found : 1) IKANTO "without going to" is distributed over Kinki and Hokuriku areas. It's distribution will spread to IKANDE area in the eastern part. IKASUTO belongs to this group. 2) IKANDE is distributed among 6 prefectures of Chubu area, omitting Hokuriku area. This word has been located for a very long time. IKANANDE belongs to this group. 3) IKASUTO was formed by mixture of IKANTO and IKAZUNI. This is distributed among Aichi, Gifu, Shizuoka, and Nagano prefectures. The distribution of IKASUTO and IKANANDE are opposed to each other putting the Hida mountain range between the two.
