Abstract
The aim of this short paper is to make clear when Sumerian preradical infix -n- began to be used in economic tablets. To achieve this, I collected some 3,000 instances of a verb šu~ti, and classified them in chronological criteria. This investigation may not be exhaustive in that it dealt with only a single verb, but may be sufficient to obtain an approximate picture of the actual use of -n-. The following two points are the main findings: 1) The preradical -n- began to be used during the reigns of Amarsuen and Šusuen. 2) This could be another instance of the linguistic "changes" that might have taken place in Amarsuen's reign.
