Abstract
The Japanese Imperial Guards were managing the ancient horse race. The rider of this race was the Japanese Imperial Guards' stuff. In the Nara period, the horse race and target practice were held on May 5. In the Heian period, the horse race was held by the emperor's outing at any time.

The Japanese Imperial Guards were managing the horse race of the emperor outing. The Japanese Imperial Guards chose the rider from the stuff of the Japanese Imperial Guards. Moreover, the Japanese Imperial Guards supplied required goods, such as clothes and lunch. These required goods were outlaid from national finance.

The horse race was held by the retired emperor outing. The retired emperor's office made the Japanese Imperial Guards manage this race. Moreover the Japanese Imperial Guards supplied required goods from national finance.

The regency held the horse race at the house. The regency's office were managing this race. The required goods of the horse race like clothes or lunch were outlaid from the homestead right of regency. The Japanese Imperial Guards were not greatly concerned with management of the horse race of regency.
