Introducing the petition against the opening of Mokpo

Abstract
In 1895, Japanese merchants in Busan, Korea, submitted four proposals in a petition opposing the opening of the Port of Mokpo to the Japanese Government. The petition included a variety of reasons for opposing the opening. This study introduces these proposals.
