Abstract
This study aims to derive a class configuration requirements by the linguistic approach to the class based on Halliday's functional grammar. According to Halliday, language is one of the systems of sign that make up the society and culture. People generate a text by selecting the best sign depending on the context, when he makes a verbal response. Halliday provides a useful concept to analyze of language use in the classroom. Linguistic approach to the class are intended to explain the interpretation of classroom discourse. This study derived a class configuration requirements through linguistic approach to the class as a clue.
