Abstract
Chinese literature in Japan refers to literature arising from the Chinese character culture from China accepted by the Japanese and developed as their own culture. The Edo period was the most prosperous period for poets and poetic works. Moreover, the literary genre of poetry can be considered as the most representative literary style at the end of the Edo period, and we will consider the poetry of Rai Mikisaburou, a renowned poet during this period. Rai Mikisaburou had inherited poetry talent from Rai Sanyou, and he had excellent qualities as a poet. However, studies on Rai Mikisaburou’s poetry are fewer than expected. Rai Mikisaburou’s Chinese poems at the end of the Edo period will be positioned through a detailed and in-depth analysis of his poems. In addition, a comparative study of Rai Sanyou’s poetry is considered valuable for clarifying the influence of Rai Sanyou’s poetry at the end of the Edo period.
