In this paper, through examining the "Transactional Theory" by Louise M. Rosenblatt, I explored about the relationships the "critical reading" and the "aesthetic reading" in reading education. Any suggestions for teaching reading were pointed out as follows; (1) the "aesthetic reading" is not only for involvement-engagement in literary texts but also for making "reading engagement" in every texts and for making active readers. (2) Since the aesthetic reading is the basis of student's abilities for doing critical reading, we should elucidate their "aesthetic" stance at the first time of reading any texts in our reading classrooms. (3) To reciprocate between the aesthetic stance and the efferent (or analytical) stance would be important as the basis of any reading activities.
