This paper concentrates on the unsightly figure of Suetsumuhana, which is dipicted that it seems like the vehicle of the Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (「普賢菩薩の乗物とおぼゆ」), and focuses on the metaphor of the vehicle concerned in the story of Suetsumuhana.Here we minutely discuss the doctrine of the pure land of Tiantai Buddhism such as the "Samantabhadra Meditation Sutra". With the background of the story of the godness in Chapter 7 ("Observing Living-beings ") of the "Vimalakirti Sutra ", we chiefly conduct explanation on the scene that Hikaru Genji laughed at Suetsumuhana's nose joking with Wakamurasaki.
