The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between theories on media education and media educational practices in Japanese language classes in Japan. After having historical overview on media educational theories in Japan, a lesson on the reading material "Media Literacy" (by Akiko Sugaya) were analyzed, and any practical issues were considered in this paper.
