abstract | The paper provides a brief historical overview of mass media technologies from the perspective of information war. Author uses the constructivist approach as a framework to examine ethnic and nationalist conflicts and argues that ethnic conflicts often initiate within the information space. He then turns to the situation in modern Russia and shows the use of mass media of communication for the purposes of conflict mobilization.
