Despite the enforcement of the Public Records and Archives Management Act, some cases concerning official documents have arisen in Japan. One of the causes of this is problems with Japanese archives. The issue is particularly tied to historical science, which distorts the original appearance of Japanese archives. Therefore, in this paper, we clarify the relationship between Japanese archives and historical studies, and clarify what should be done.
