| abstract | 2000年間の中日関係の進展の中で, 日本人の"中国観"は3回の大きな変遷があった。そして今4回目の大きな変化の初期段階を迎えている。その変化は日本社会内部の構造の変動や刷新, 外的な国際社会秩序の調整や再構築がその前提とされ, "実力主義", "現実主義", "国家利益優先"の価値基準により方向づけられてきた。日本人の"中国観"の変遷を眺めると, その変化には次のような法則がある。それは, 中国の国勢が盛んなときは日本人の中国観は中国尊重の傾向にあり, 中国が衰退にあるときは日本人の中国観は中国蔑視の傾向にある。これは明らかに"実用主義"の特徴を示している。
