This study examines how the effects of parenting attitudes on the well-being and social skills in middle school students. One hundred sixty seven students of 7th and 8th grade participated in this research. The parental attitudes examined were over protectiveness and over negative. In the middle school students we looked at the following skills, participation in group, maintaining relationships and improving relationships. We analyzed these relations while paying attention to the combination of gender differences. The results were as follows; in both parent's overprotective promotes boy's improving relationship skills and the boys who had high relationship skills felt better sense of wellbeing. In girls, whose both parents were rejecting to children have relatively lower sense of well-being. However the father's rejection, also possitively effected to the girl's relationship skills. And the girls who have more developed relationship skills, have better sense of well-being. The influence of overprotective attitudes and negative attitudes including combination of gender differences was discussed.
