abstract | Japanese makes a dichotomy in dividing learners of Japanese language. One is the learners from Chinese character's society and the other is the leaners from non-Chinese character's society. The Indonesian Japanese learners are from the non-Chinese character's society.
Japanese expert Yoshiaki Takebe pointed out that studying Japanese kanji (Chinese characters) is not a problem for the learners from a Chinese character's society but it is not so for the others. Therefore, he says that it is very important to make a special method in teaching kanji for them. The teaching method must be based upon a consumption having values of simplicity, rational, and systematic consideration. The learning method is the same. I have taught a learning method to Indonesian students in lectures of Japanese language and linguistics. There was a good result but it is still not enough, therefore in accordance to this teaching experience and a study by Japanese expert Yoshiyuki Morita, I intend to make a new learning method to help Indonesian students in studying Japanese kanji. The new method classifies the words of Japanese kanji into 7 categories; (1) Words from arbitrary process (2) Words from modification process (3) Words from objectization process (4) Words from clause formation process (5) Words from arbitrary combination process (6) Words from synonym-antonym process (7) Words from affixation process. |
