Submarine sliding deposits in the Bihoku Group at Higashisakiya, Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture
abstract
The features of submarine sliding deposits in the Tertiary Bihoku Group are described. The submarine sliding deposits are made up of slump blocks (several meters in size) of alternating beds of sandstone and mudstone and are characterized by recumbent folds and a pile of tight folds of beds. It is inferred that submarine slides have repeatedly occurred at several spots in this area.
