The purpose of this research was to investigate the classification on the basis of emotions that elicit in the called nicknames. For this purpose, we selected 12 nickname stimulations in which are typical communication scenes. Contextual information of the nicknames was regulated, 80 university students were asked to perceive six emotions. The results showed (1) people can perceive the basic emotions from nicknames, (2) three clusters was extracted on the basis of emotions that elicit in the called nicknames in men's and women's both groups, and (3) each group has the characteristic of the emotion rating. On the basis of the results of this study, we discussed the problems of the future of nickname's studies.
