Abstract
This paper proposes a new computation method for Available Transfer Capability (ATC) with respect to voltage stability. In this paper, ATC is formulated as an optimization problem and solved by The Primal-Dual Interior Point Method (PDIPM). In stressed power system, it is possible that apparent impedance of mho relay falls in protection region and non-fault lines are tripped, which further stress the system and followed by cascading events. We considered this phenomenon in a computation method for ATC. In order to consider mho relay characteristics, we add mho relay operating conditions to the optimization problem as limits. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through IEEE 30 bus systems.
