abstract | The present international situation with regards to human rights and self dermination, should make it possible to fasten the demise of Apartheid, a regime that has caused much conflict and bloodshed in Southern Africa. Apartheid issues relating to peace, development and democracy, have always been very much in the forefront of the United Nations work agenda. The purpose of this article is to describe the activity of the United Nations concerning Apartheid, and to investigate how the United Nations dealt with it. It is needless to say that Apartheid is framed by racial discrimination. In addition, Apartheid has a center-peripheral structure involving structural violence, as a result the developmental dictatorship politics. The United Nations have created anti-apartheid ordinances through dicussions in the General Assembly since 1945. By scrutinizing the voting behavior in the General Assembly, we show the activity of UN members. At first, the result is that some members have recently joined or sympathized with the anti-apartheid milieux, but still some others lag deeply behind the changing force. Next is that the UN should internationally develop the antiapartheid environment and behavior to put more pressure on the South African dictature.
