| abstract | The Eguchi-Kawai model is studied by using the Monte Carlo technique with the gauge groups SU(N), N=2, 3, 4, 5, and 10. Clear evidence of spontaneous breaking of the ZN symmetry is observed in the weak-coupling region for N=10.
