abstract | To develop the periodontal regeneration therapy using bioactive agents, effects of two potential agents, brainderived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and a synthetic peptide of ameloblastin on growth and differentiation of periodontal ligament cells in vitro and tissue healing in vivo. Both agents enhanced proliferation and mineralization of the periodontal ligament cells and induced periodontal tissue regeneration. We showed that BDNF and the ameloblastin peptide could be used as the promising medication to promote periodontal tissue regeneration.
