The purpose of this research is to examine the potential utilization of portfolio among novice teachers in kindergartens and nursery schools by examining the theory shown by the previous research. From the aspect of self-evaluation, attention is paid to the utilization of the portfolio in various fields, and a lot of examinations are discussed in recent years. However, the recognition of the portfolio is still low, so there were hardly any studies in the past which analyzed the utilization of the portfolio in kindergartens and nursery schools in Japan. Then, in this research focus to the teachers especially novice teachers in kindergartens and nursery schools and examine the utilization of portfolio. As a result, there are three points that (1) learning the cycle about Reflection, (2) improvement of skill in documentation making, and (3) sending of the information were found as utilization of portfolio among novice teachers. On this basis, I would like to empirical research about utilization of portfolio among novice teachers from now on.
