A Longitudinal Study on the Changes in Teacher Aptitudes, Motivation and Self-estimation of Fitness to Become Teacher
The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in cognition of teacher aptitudes, motivation, and fitness judgement of becoming teachers during 4 years univresity education.
The present report was concerned with the changes during the 1st year of university life. The questionnaire involved the questions about the motivation and fitness to become teachers, the ideal teaching skills (24 items)
the teaching skills learned for a year. At the beginning of 1st and 2nd year, the questionnaire was administerated to 353 students of the Faculty of School Education, Hiroshima University. but analysis have done on 310 students who answered to this questionnaire at both of 2 test occasion.
All students were highly motivated to become teacher, and they estimated that they learned teaching skills a little. But analysis on changes over time has not found changes in thoses items for a year. Comparing the changes during the teaching practicum, features of 1st year were discussed.
